MONACO — Lando Norris beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix in a tense qualifying session that saw the McLaren driver set a new track record.

Norris, who last secured pole position at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, looked quick throughout the session before his final lap tripped the timing beam at 1:09.954.

The lap was 0.109 seconds faster than Leclerc’s best effort and 0.177 seconds clear of teammate and championship leader Oscar Piastri in third place.
