Mississippi Man Is Charged With Stalking Jennifer Aniston

A 48-year-old man has been charged with stalking and vandalism, including crashing his car through the front gate of the actress Jennifer Aniston’s Bel Air home, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

The man, Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, 48, from New Albany, Miss., could face three years in prison, the district attorney’s office said in a news release. He is accused of repeatedly harassing Ms. Aniston and “sending her unwanted social media, voice mail and email messages” over a roughly two-year period starting March 1, 2023.

“Stalking is a crime that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous, violent actions, threatening the safety of victims and our communities,” District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in the news release.

Mr. Carwyle is also accused of crashing his vehicle through the front gate of Ms. Aniston’s home on Monday, “causing substantial damage,” according to prosecutors. He then stopped in Ms. Aniston’s driveway and was detained by her security guard before the police arrived and arrested him, according to the news release.

Ms. Aniston’s sprawling Bel Air mansion was featured last week in Architectural Digest, which described it as a midcentury-modern house. Ms. Aniston also hosted her 2015 wedding to the actor Justin Theroux at the home. The actors are now divorced.

Mr. Carwyle started proclaiming that God wanted him to marry Ms. Aniston sometime after the coronavirus pandemic, Marty Merritt, a longtime friend of Mr. Carwyle’s in Mississippi, said in a video posted to Facebook. Mr. Merritt said that he had known Mr. Carwyle in school and that the two became friends as adults when they started attending the same church.

The pandemic changed things, Mr. Merritt said, adding that Mr. Carwyle started sending him outrageous messages — including claims of being God and the Antichrist — and posting “creepy” things online.

Ms. Aniston could not immediately be reached for comment.

“I’m so sorry Ms. Aniston that this happened to you,” Mr. Merritt said in the video.
