Sports and style are more intertwined than ever — and no one knows that better than Jaylen Brown.

Between his viral tunnel walks and genuine love of design, the Boston Celtics player is an absolute fashion force both on and off the court. Add in his passion for education, community work and social advocacy, and you’re left with someone just as sincere as they are wildly talented.

And now, Brown joins basketball legend Carmelo Anthony as the newest faces of David Yurman, growing the luxury jewelry brand’s existing partnership with the NBA.

In July 2024, Kyle Kuzma, D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Green, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kevin Love, Josh Hart and Seth Curry were named global brand ambassadors. Building upon the success of last year’s campaign, Brown and Anthony are highlighting their strong sense of personal style and deep family ties in the Spring/Summer 2025 men’s campaign, showcasing David Yurman’s Curb Chain Collection.

In honor of the announcement, the Celtics player spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his favorite and least favorite fashion trends, who on his team has the best style and what it was like working with his grandfather in the new DY campaign.

I’m sure you receive constant requests from brands to work with you — What made you say yes to this partnership with David Yurman?

I’ve always been intentional about who I partner with. For me, it has to be deeper than just a brand name, it’s about shared values and authenticity. David Yurman really stood out in that way. The craftsmanship, the artistry and the family roots behind the brand really connected with me.

What are your go-to clothing and accessory picks in the tunnel and off the court? How does jewelry fit into your signature aesthetic?

My style’s always evolving, but at the core, it’s about self-expression. I like to blur the lines between high fashion and streetwear, depending on the vibe. Could be a tailored fit one day, or something oversized and laid-back the next. Lately I’ve been heavy into eyewear as well. Jewelry adds that extra element of intention to the outfit. Jewelry is supposed to be a statement piece that feels personal.

What are your favorite David Yurman pieces, especially in the Curb Chain Collection? How do you style them?

The Curb Chain Collection speaks volumes without having to be ‘loud,’ it hits that sweet spot between bold and timeless. The bracelet is my go-to piece. It works whether I’m suited up for an event or just chilling in something casual. It adds that extra layer of detail that brings everything together.

How do you use fashion and jewelry as an instrument for self-expression? How has your personal style evolved over time?

Fashion’s a language. It says a lot about who you are, even when you’re not speaking. Over time, my style has matured, but it’s still rooted in the same essence – creativity, confidence, culture. I grew up in a space where expression mattered, and now I get to bring that into everything I wear. Jewelry is the final touch to complete a full look. It’s important to choose what jewelry to wear with each outfit so you can be sure you’re telling the full story.

What was it like working with your Pop Pop in this campaign?

Having someone like Pop Pop be part of this meant everything. He’s all about family, tradition, and doing things the right way, that energy lined up perfectly with what David Yurman represents. It made the whole campaign feel real. Sharing that moment with him just confirmed how much their vision aligns with mine.

What has been your favorite tunnel outfit this season?

Definitely my NBA All-Star Oakley fit. I’m into dystopian fashion – edgy but futuristic. I like layered looks where everything flows together, plus standout eyewear, my 741 gloves, and that special edition sneaker case. That whole fit really captured where my style’s at right now.

What’s one current fashion trend that you love and one that you hate?

I’m really into the balaclava and ski mask look, it fits that dystopian vibe I’m feeling right now. I’ve also been rocking custom grills heavy. They’re a fun, edgy way to express yourself, and every set is unique to whoever’s wearing it. It’s all about personal style and showing who you are through fashion. I never have been a fan personally of painting nails, that’s one trend you won’t catch me doing.

Do you have any style inspirations? Who on your team has the best style?

As for the team… I’ll let folks decide, but I’m gonna say I’ve got the best personal style, haha. I pull inspiration from everyday life; different cultures, science, tech, anything that feels like art. My style comes from the world around me, not really from any one person.

I deeply admire your plethora of hobbies and passions off the court. What are you most looking forward to in the coming months?

I appreciate that. I’m always looking for ways to grow outside of the game, whether that’s through art, fashion, education, or community work. Right now, I’m focused on building things that have impact, that live beyond me. There’s a few projects that I’m really proud of that continue to expand, including the launch of my self funded and designed athletic brand, 741, as well as a health and wellness tech tool, Hapbee, that I’m the Chief Innovation Officer for.

What do you do with your teammates outside of practice? What does a day in your life look like during off-season?

The off-season is all about balance. It’s my time to reconnect with the community, travel, and lock in on training. I get some of my best workouts in all over the world. It’s a chance to really tune into my body, push my limits, and level up for the next season.
